Collection is a game created to make the Walters Art Museum approachable and personalized. During the game, players identify collections of three cards that either 1. contain the same piece of art or 2. contain completely different pieces of art that share any characteristic named by the player and agreed upon by their peers (e.g. being carved of stone or having a large nose). Players keep the collections they identify. The player with the most collections wins. By playing the game, players create novel collections juxtaposing objects across time, culture, and geography. In doing so, the collections are free from the restraints of knowledge and context, and allow the objects to bring meaning to the union solely with their aesthetic form.
